Founded in 1979, the American Women’s Association is a vibrant and active women’s group for all nationalities. We provide a wide variety of activities and events, and join with the wider Qatar community through our volunteer programs.

AWA Charity In accordance with our purpose as an association, AWA has donated QR34,000 raised during the year to organizations promoting Diabetes and Breast Cancer Awareness. (See full story)

Elections for the 2009-2010 Board were held at the May General Meeting. Amendments to the by-laws were also presented for approval. See the About Us page for a listing of our new board members and a link to AWA By-Laws.

Coffee Mornings will continue through the summer months on the 3^rd Monday of the month. Anyone new to Doha or remaining here during the summer is welcome to attend. Use the Contact Us button above for further information and to be added to a distribution list for notification.

AWA President’s Message

Dear AWA Ladies,

When I arrived to Doha 3 years ago, I had the pleasure to become a member of this multicultural oriented group of ladies. The AWA have helped me as they have helped many new ladies adapt to their new homes away from home and made me feel welcome.

During the course of my stay in Doha, I have met many great ladies and become a friend to many others. Doha has so much to offer when you are willing to learn about new cultures and traditions. Enjoy this unique learning experience now, and share what you have learned with your family and friends in the future.

I have enjoyed my stay in Qatar tremendously and I would repeat my experience in a heartbeat.

With deep regrets I am leaving the country with my husband. His career is taking us to Europe and we are leaving Doha with friends for life and memorable stories to tell of Doha.

I am grateful for the wonderful opportunity I had to meet so many good hearted ladies and to be part of this great organization.

I will miss you all,

From September to May, AWA will hold General Meetings on the 2^nd Monday morning with a featured speaker or program, plus a variety of tours, shopping trips, lunches & dinners at local restaurants, classes, and numerous other activities for its members.
