November general meeting to feature women’s empowerment in Qatar

Our November general meeting is coming up quickly, and promises to be one of our most intriguing topics to-date.

Not just a place for women to socialize, the female majlis (literally, “sitting places”) in Qatar serve as important forums for political debate, career networking and other topics.

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Jocelyn Sage Mitchell, assistant professor in residence, Liberal Arts program, at Northwestern University in Qatar, as she shares the findings of her recent research subject – Majlis Al-Hareem in Qatar: Participation, Engagement, and Empowerment of Qatari Women.  This research highlights the state of affairs of women’s empowerment in Qatar by examining the thoughts and opinions voiced in the majlis al-hareem (female majlis), which some 84 percent of local women participate in.
