New dolls, donations, add to AWAQ volunteers’ commitment at Hamad

Extending our helping hands in Qatar even further, our community service volunteers are now working in collaboration with the Tuesday Ladies Group (TLG) to sew medical dolls for kids at Hamad Children’s Hospital. These adorable dolls, dressed in hospital gowns of varying prints and colors, are being stitched together with love by our hard-working members who meet regularly to sew heart pillows and drain bags for Hamad’s cancer patients.

Meanwhile, AWAQ raised QR1,500  from our “lucky draw”, plus QR600 in sales of little posies and cash donations, to be used for buying more fabric and fill for our ongoing pillow group projects.   We also donated 40 new bras, 35 pink heart pillows, six sets of pajamas and 20 pairs of slippers, all collected at our October meeting.  Thank you all so much for your contributions!

In November, we are collecting new underwear in packages or with sales tickets.  Scarves will be the target donation for collection in December.  Always welcome are travel sized shampoos and hygiene items.  If you would like to donate any of these items, please bring them to one of our general meetings, or to any hosted or informal coffee morning.
