Our annual Fall membership luncheon, postponed until October this year to allow the majority of members to return from summer and Eid holidays, will feature US Ambassador to Qatar Dana Shell-Smith as our guest speaker. Ambassador Smith, who attended last year’s luncheon, is an Honorary Member of AWAQ, and has played an active role in US-Qatar relations since September 2014.
October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so it’s a perfect time to welcome back friends while giving back to our community. Members of the Qatar Cancer Society will be on hand to help raise awareness, and a special “pink” lucky draw will be held, to benefit our Hamad Hospital projects. Members are also asked to bring in a new bra, as a donation for Hamad Hospital patients.
