March Meeting Fun!
We had a great March meeting! Lots of fun with Irish-themed bingo, and then Khalifa Saleh Al Haroon, also known as Mr. Q, the CEO and Founder of I Love Qatar. He was hilarious, kind, and encouraging. If we have dreams to make a difference or try something new, he urged us to follow them. He invests in start-ups he believes will make a difference. Most impressive, he donates a portion of the profit...Read More
What a great week!
This has been a jam-packed week for AWA! We kicked off the week with our Sunday afternoon coffee at Tim Horton's, which is always fun. It gives us a chance to chat and get to know people better. Our General Meeting on Monday was so heart-warming. We got to hear from members of our military about their service, why they chose to join the military, and what it means to them. We also made care pac...Read More
Al Shaqab Tour
One of our most anticipated events was a tour of Al Shaqab. Al Shaqab is Qatar Foundation’s equestrian centre in the State of Qatar, where Arabian horses are trained. Eleven ladies attended the tour and all made some new friends! These horses certainly have a lot of personality! We have a number of exciting events coming up shortly!Read More

It’s already November, and the holidays will be here before we know it. Thanksgiving is only a few weeks away, and we are frequently reminded of Pilgrims at this time of year. When you think about it, the United States has always been a nation of immigrants – permanent expats you might say. For more than 200 years, Americans have been welcoming other nationalities from around the world and that ...Read More
AWAQ book sale a big success
We'd like to share the details of our successful book sale this month at ASD, in conjunction with their Girl Up team. AWAQ representatives Zehra Bengali and Angela Baumann sold 1,540 QR worth of books, and donated a further 165 books to ASD (both the Elementary School and High School English Department). These proceeds were shared with Girl Up, and AWAQ netted 920 QR. It's also important to m...Read More
Three reasons to love the month of October
1. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. October is a designated month to nationally raise breast cancer awareness. This is a great time to get involved and make a direct impact in the fight against breast cancer. To continue AWAQ’s commitment, our Community Service Committee spends countless hours, each month, cutting and sewing patterns to support women who are experiencing the agony of breas...Read More
